MAST Asia 2019, the Maritime Air Systems & Technology for Defence, Security and Safety, conference and exhibition opened its doors today at Makuhari Messe near Tokyo, Japan.

MAST Asia is Japanโ€™s long-established biennial trade-show and conference, which unites the foremost global military operators,technologists, policy makers, (and industry executives), with their counterparts in Japan.

Organised from offices both in Japan and Europe, MAST Asia is spearheaded by Japanโ€™s former Defense Minister, Professor Satoshi Morimoto, Policy Adviser to Defense Minister, Ministry of Defense, Japan, affording top-level connectivity into, and collaboration with every major defence organization in Japan including:

  • Ministry of Defence
  • Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force
  • Japan Air Self-Defence Force
  • Japan Ground Self-Defense Force
  • Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Agency (ATLA)
  • Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Additionally MASTโ€™s renowned Technical Conference committee (military/government/R&D, and industry representatives from four continents) help secure support from the in-country United Statesโ€™ Navy 7th Fleet, U.S. Forces Japan, and 5th Air Force, and support internationally from military and government agencies from Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, India,Malaysia, Netherlands, Singapore, Sweden, UK, and USA.

A keynote session on Maritime Security in the Indo-Asia-Pacific Region was held right before the opening. The speakers were Vice Admiral Sawyer, Commander USN 7th Fleet, USA, Admiral Hiroshi Yamamura, Chief of Staff, MSDF, Japan and Commodore (ret) Andrรฉ van Koningsbrugge, Consultant, Netherlands.
