MBDA showcased combat-proven Aster missiles for the Royal Danish Navy at DALO Industry Days 2026, highlighting performance and new capabilities.
At the 2026 DALO Industry Days in Herning, Denmark, MBDA was showcasing its Aster missile family to the Royal Danish Navy. Following Denmark’s selection of the land-based air defense systems for its Air Force, the company highlighted the naval variants of the missiles, including the Aster B1 NT.
In an interview with Naval News, Stefano Bertuzzi, Head of Naval Systems at MBDA, discussed the performance of the Aster system during recent deployments. Noting operations in regions such as the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz by navies including France, Italy, the UK, and Qatar, Bertuzzi reported high levels of customer satisfaction and successful target interceptions.
As naval threats evolve, modern fleets require systems capable of addressing complex challenges, including ballistic missiles. MBDA positions the Aster B1 NT as a European air defense solution capable of achieving interception ranges of up to 150 kilometers. This capability has attracted interest from other European nations, including Sweden and Portugal, as part of their respective frigate and surface combatant programs.
To date, the Aster missile family has more than 12 current or future naval users worldwide, with recent additions including Greece and Indonesia. MBDA’s presentation at DALO Industry Days 2026 highlights the potential application of the system to meet the future operational requirements of the Royal Danish Navy.
