Video: ECA Group UMIS MCM Solution at LIMA 2019

At LIMA 2019, the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace exhibition, ECA Group was showcasing its UMIS unmanned systems suite. The French company also introduced the latest addition to the UMIS suite during LIMA: UMIS Containerized, an air-transportable drones system for MCM missions.

UMIS is a robotics system developed by ECA Group for surveying or securing large or complex zones at sea as well as costal areas. This comprehensive and modular solution includes a wide range of unmanned vehicles such as USVs, UUVs ( AUVs, ROVs, MIDS), towed systems (sonars, sweeps) and UAVs. UMIS also integrates a comprehensive software suite, UMISOFT,  allowing easy and complete management of the entire unmanned mission from preparation,  planning  and supervision, to data acquisition, processing analysis and management.

Deployed from the shore or from a mothership, UMISM enables to perform several tasks simultaneously, allowing to:

  • Reduce the time of operations
  • Provide more efficient use of human resources

In addition, the ship not having to enter the hazardous area, UMIS allows to conduct operations more safely compared to traditional solutions.

UMIS Containerised  is a flexible and stand-alone unmanned solution. To meet navies’ requirements and their logistic constraints, ECA GROUP designed specific storage and transportation equipment for each possible configuration. The containerized facility can be deployed in coastal areas, canals, ports and harbor entrances.

A typical UMIS Containerised configuration can be made of a dedicated C2 container and its “tools” dedicated containers for several drones of the “team”.

The C2 container will be deployed on land or on a non-dedicated ship (COOP or NATO), while the drones will be able to be deployed from beaches, river banks, port docks, …

The main functions of the C2 are to operate the drones like USV INSPECTOR 125, mid-size AUV A18-M, towed sonar T18-M, MIDS configuration made of inspection ROV SEASCAN and the “mine killer” K-STER and men portable AUV A9-M and its equipment such as LARS.

A complete UMISM Containerised configuration is air-transportable and can be deployed very quickly anywhere in the world. It is fully compliant with safety and transportation norms.

This solution is already used by several world’s navies.
