Japan’s Ministry of Defense (MOD) is trying to build unique ships that will specialize in ballistic missile defense (BMD) using systems originally procured for a land-based installation known as “Aegis Ashore”.
On August 4, 2020, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received the recommendations report of the “Missile Defense Study Team” of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) which is Japan’s ruling party.
