The St. Petersburg-based Severnaya Shipyard (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) floated out the Project 22350 third-built and second serial-produced frigate ‘Admiral Golovko’, the Shipyard told TASS on Friday 22.
The “Admiral Golovko” frigate of project 22350 will be floated in late April — early May, Severnaya verf Shipyard said. It is the third frigate of the class following the “Admiral Gorshkov” and “Admiral Kasatonov”.
The Admiral Kasatonov frigate of project 22350 built by Severnaya verf Shipyard is beginning the final stage of acceptance trials in the Baltic Sea. The frigate will then return to the shipyard for the handover to the Russian Navy, Severnaya verf said.
The Admiral Gorshkov frigate of project 22350 arrived in Belomorskaya naval base for maintenance and loading of Tsirkon hypersonic missile for another test launch, a source in the defense industry told TASS.
The latest frigates of project 22350 will be deployed in the Black Sea. They are armed with Kalibr cruise and Tsirkon hypersonic missiles. All the necessary infrastructure will be built.
The Admiral Golovko frigate of project 22350 with a completely Russian-made power plant will be launched by July 1, Severnaya verf Shipyard CEO Igor Ponomarev told TASS.
According to local media, the Russian Navy started to experiment the use of UUVs and USVs from its Project 22350 Admiral Gorshkov-class frigate. UAVs are set to be tested from Russia’s latest generation of frigates as well.
