The U.S. Navy has awarded a contract for the construction of CVN 80 and CVN 81 to Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Newport News Shipbuilding.
Boeing was awarded $15,9 million for modification P00001 to delivery order previously placed against basic ordering agreement N00019-16-G-0001. This modification exercises an option for the procurement of 79 Harpoon Block II Plus Tactical Missile upgrade kits for the U.S. Navy.

The vessel sailed 19,000 nautical miles, through the Northeast Passage, from the Norwegian Sea to the Bering Strait, through the Barents, Kara, Laptevn Siberia and Tukukche Seas. It went back to its homeport (Brest naval base in Britanny) after passing through the Panama Canal.
