
Japan receives first E-2D Advanced Hawkeye AEW&C aircraft
The Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) on March 29 took delivery of its first E-2D Advanced Hawkeye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft, Northrop Grumman announces today.

The U.S. Navy has awarded a multi-year procurement contract to Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. for the purchase of 24 E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft in full rate production for fiscal years 2019-2023.

The U.S. Navy exercised an option for five aerial refueling retrofit kits for the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft. The value of the contract modification awarded to Northrop Grumman is $9.7 million.

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $59 million US Air Force contract for the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of the Embedded Global Positioning System (GPS)/Inertial Navigation System (INS)-Modernization, or EGI-M, technology. The EGI-M will be integrated into multiple platforms across all of the services and exportable versions will be developed for international customers. The lead platforms for EGI-M are USAF F-22 and US Navy E-2D.
