The French Navy (Marine Nationale) LHD Mistral and frigate Guépratte, have joined Operation ATALANTA. The mission aims at strengthening maritime security and combat pricay in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean.
The Italian Navy (Marina Militare) FREMM Frigate “Carlo Bergamini” concluded its participation to the European anti-piracy operation Atalanta (EU NAVFOR), during which it carried out presence and surveillance tasks in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean.
The Bundestag (German Parlament) approved the deployment of the Bundeswehr in the crisis management operation EUNAVFOR MED (European Union Naval Force – Mediterranean) “Irini” in the Mediterranean on May 7, 2020.

The German Federal Cabinet has extended the anti-piracy mission EUNAVFOR (European Union Naval Force Somalia) – Operation Atalanta – in the Horn of Africa. The mandate, which expires on 31 May 2020, is to be continued for a further year until 31 May. 2021. The Bundestag (German parliament) still has to discuss and then vote on it.
