At last! Photos and videos by Chinese ships potters show that China’s first amphibious assault ship, a Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) known as Type 075 has finally started sea trials. The vessel set sails today at around 1:30PM local time departing its pier at the Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai.

Russian President Vladimir Putin participated in the keel laying ceremony of several vessels for the Russian Navy, including the next generation Project 23900 amphibious assault ships. The ceremony took place on 20 July at Zaliv Shipyard in Kerch for the LHD (and remotely for the other vessels).
US Navy sailors reported a fire aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) while moored pier side at Naval Base San Diego July 12, at approximately 8:30 a.m. Thus far seventeen Sailors and four civilians are being treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital. All crew members have been accounted for.

According to TASS news agency, the Russian Ministry of Defense signed a contract with the Zaliv shipyard in Kerch for the construction of the first two Russian universal landing ships (UDC) or LHD for a total amount of about 100 billion rubles on May 22, 2020. This was reported to TASS by a defense industry source.

The French Navy (Marine Nationale) LHD Mistral and frigate Guรฉpratte, have joined Operation ATALANTA. The mission aims at strengthening maritime security and combat pricay in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean.
