
Sweden’s FMV Awards Saab Contract for Self Propelled Naval Mine Development

Following the recent Dutch government announcement regarding the Walrus-class replacement program, Saab-Damen and Naval Group each issued a statement. The German shipbuilder TKMS has yet to comment.

The Dutch Ministry of Defense today issued the B-Letter for the Walrus-class submarine replacement program confirming its intent to procure 4 new submarines and shortlisting three shipbuilders for this procurement process: Naval Group, Saab and TKMS.

Finnish Navy’s Pohjanmaa-class corvette acquisition project is proceeding well after having been delayed by a change of government and longer than expected contract negotiations. The Finnish Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy gave its approval for the continuation of the process.

The relaunch of HMS Uppland took place June 19, 2019 at Saab Kockums’ shipyard in Karlskrona. Two of the Gotland-class submarines have now concluded comprehensive mid-life upgrades (MLU) and are equipped to face the challenges of tomorrow.
