The 49th Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) exercise, NATO's premier maritime-focused exercise in the Baltic Region, takes place in the Baltic Sea from June 7-16 2020.

The U.S. Navy received its 100th P-8A aircraft from Boeing today as the global fleet, which also includes the Indian navy and the Australian and U.K. air forces, approaches 300,000 flight hours of hunting submarines and providing aerial reconnaissance capabilities around the world on May 14, 2020.

The US Coast Guard commissioned the seventh and eighth national security cutters (NSCs), Kimball and Midgett, at their Honolulu homeport Aug. 24. The unique joint commissioning ceremony marks the official start of NSC operations in Honolulu where the cutters will carry out activities to safeguard the nation’s maritime safety, security and economic interests.

The U.S. Navy released a request for proposals (RFP) for the guided missile frigate FFG(X) detail design and construction (DD&C) contract for the first 10 ships (one base ship and nine option ships), the PEO Unmanned and Small Combatants announced on June 20.

Saab secured an additional order from US for Sea Giraffe MMR radar systems. This order exercises an option on an existing contract which was initially awarded in 2017 and includes multiple line item options for additional Sea Giraffe MMR systems.
