Russian Akula-class Submarine ‘Magadan’ to be Operational Again in 2022

The Project 971 (Akula-class) nuclear-powered attack submarine (SSN) K-331 “Magadan” will be operational again a year earlier than planned โ€” in early 2022 rather than in 2023. It will be both overhauled and upgraded. The set of armaments will be renewed. The SSN has stood idle at a shipyard for seven years awaiting an overhaul, the Izvestia daily writes.

BAE secures Bofors naval guns order for UK Type 31 frigate program

BAE Systems will produce and deliver Bofors 40 Mk4 and Bofors 57 Mk3 naval guns for the U.K. Ministry of Defenceโ€™s Type 31 general purpose frigate program. The agreement, through a contract with Babcock International, will supply the Royal Navy with a set of advanced, multi-purpose gun systems for its fleet of five ships, with the first ship expected to go into service in 2027.
