The Dutch Defense Ministry plans to replace its fleet of (Fast Raiding Interception and Special Forces Craft) starting 2024, according to an announcement published yesterday on the European tenders platform TED.
The Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) now allows women as crew members in its fleet of submarines. This is the result of a test during which women successfully participated to on-board operations as part of the submarine crew.
The Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) will receive new uniforms from the end of 2020 under the Defense Operational Clothing System (DOCS) project, the Dutch Ministry of Defense announced on December 19.
The construction of the new Combat Support Ship (CSS) Zr. Ms Den Helder should start soon. An agreement has been reached between the Dutch MoD and Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding on the construction and delivery of a CSS. State Secretary Barbara Visser sent the last required document (D letter) to the Lower House on December 19.

After the successful initial trials, the French shipbuilder is quietly progressing towards the industrialization phase. The current ramp-up phase will soon result in the creation of a dedicated subsidiary in Belgium by year-end.
Following the recent Dutch government announcement regarding the Walrus-class replacement program, Saab-Damen and Naval Group each issued a statement. The German shipbuilder TKMS has yet to comment.
The Dutch Ministry of Defense today issued the B-Letter for the Walrus-class submarine replacement program confirming its intent to procure 4 new submarines and shortlisting three shipbuilders for this procurement process: Naval Group, Saab and TKMS.
