The Project 885M Yasen-M class nuclear-powered attack submarine Kazan (NATO reporting name: Severodvinsk-class) has launched torpedoes against a surface and an underwater target during its trials in the White Sea, the Defense Ministry’s press office said.
The Pella Shipyard in St. Petersburg in northwest Russia has completed the construction of the Project 22800 missile corvette Odintsovo (NATO reporting name: Karakurt-class), the Defense Ministry’s press office said.
Kanonersky Shipyard floated the Akademik Ageev oceanographic research vessel of project 16450, Severnoe Design Bureau said.
The Admiralty Shipyard handed over the first Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky submarine of project 636.3 to the Pacific fleet. The submarine hoisted St. Andrew’ flag.
New trials of the advanced Tsirkon hypersonic antiship missile will take place at a Russian Northern Fleet sea range before the yearend, a source in uniformed agencies of the Northwestern Federal District told TASS.
The engineering brigade of the Northern fleet will be formed in 2020, Navy sources said. It will be armed for a broad range of missions ranging from construction and restoration of infrastructure facilities to assault on reinforced positions. The brigade will comprise assault groups equipped with all-terrain vehicles, swamp buggies, bulldozers and tracklayers. The formation will also have sniffer dogs.
Yantar Shipyard floated the Voevoda lead rescue vessel of project 23700, the enterprise said.
The Project 1155 large antisubmarine warfare (ASW )ship Marshal Shaposhnikov (NATO reporting name: Udaloy-class) and the Project 949A Antey nuclear-powered submarine Irkutsk (Oscar-II-class) being upgraded for Russia’s Pacific Fleet will be able to launch advanced Tsirkon hypersonic missiles, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko said.
Russian submarines will get armored shelters equipped with water, electricity, and steam supplies. They are designed for Borey-class SSBN of project 955 and Yasen-class SSGN of project 885, as well as Lada-class diesel-electric submarines of projects 636 and 677. Each shelter will defend the submarine from bombs and missiles and even a nuclear strike, the Izvestia daily writes.
The Admiralty Shipyard laid two diesel-electric submarines of project 636.3 for the Pacific fleet.
